In-depth training in assessing corrosion, dents and gouges, weld flaws, fatigue and fracture in onshore and offshore pipelines, to DNV-RP-F101, ASME B31G, BS 7910 and API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
- Duration
- 3 days
- Outline
- 11 modules
- On completion
- Certificate from Z-Subsea Energies
About the course
This course gives in-depth knowledge of the defect assessment techniques used in the oil and gas industry, based on the damage mechanisms typical of onshore and offshore pipelines. It traces how the assessment codes developed, explains how pipelines fail and how they are inspected, and then works through the assessment of each type of anomaly, from metal loss and dents to crack-like weld flaws, fatigue and fracture.
The course closes with repair and rehabilitation methods and a series of case studies and worked examples. It is led by Dr Afshin Motarjemi, who holds a PhD in the fracture and fatigue of welded joints and specialises in risk-based integrity management, engineering critical assessment (ECA) and the fatigue assessment of subsea assets.
