Pipeline On-Bottom Stability Analysis
Vertical and lateral stability of pipelines on the seabed during installation, testing and operation.
The vertical and lateral stability of a pipeline during installation, testing and operation depends on the hydrodynamic forces acting on it, its submerged weight and the seabed soil. Hydrodynamic forces can be calculated in several ways, depending on the water depth and wave characteristics.
We use simplified methods as well as nonlinear finite element modelling in the time domain. With accurate soil behaviour and hydrodynamics, FE modelling often leads to a more economical design.
