About Z-Subsea Energies

Who we are

Z-Subsea Energies Ltd is an independent, impartial, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy providing integrated services to the oil and gas industry: from concept and front-end engineering design (FEED) through detailed design, construction and operations, all the way to decommissioning.

Our expertise spans the whole subsea system, from the wellhead to pipelines, risers, umbilicals and structures, up to the subsea control facilities topside on platforms and FPSOs. Clients rely on us as an impartial technical source, ready to help with their next project or their most difficult challenge.

Our story

Z-Subsea Energies was established in London in December 2011. Our directors hold PhDs and work with a network of specialist associates, whose experience comes from design consultancies, independent verification bodies and operators including J P Kenny, KBR, Xodus Group, Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, TWI and Talisman Energy.

That combination is why our people have a first-class reputation for the design of subsea systems (production systems, risers, umbilicals and flowlines) and for full life-cycle integrity engineering and management.

What we do

• Asset integrity management: risk-based integrity management, fitness-for-service, Engineering Critical Assessment and life extension.

• Subsea engineering: pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design of pipelines, risers, structures and components.

• Advanced analysis: nonlinear finite element analysis of buckling, free spans, on-bottom stability, components and ship impact.

• Flow assurance and process engineering for subsea and onshore pipelines.

• Materials selection and corrosion control, including failure investigation.

Safe operation beyond the original design life is a particular focus. We use innovative, cost-effective approaches to maximise our clients’ safe operating time and to minimise shutdowns and downtime.

Our mission

To provide world-class, multi-disciplinary, integrated and impartial subsea design and integrity consultancy that creates value for our clients, through better new designs and the safe life extension of existing assets.

Training and software

The industry needs highly qualified engineers, so we also deliver specialist oil and gas training courses worldwide, both standard and tailor-made. Clients have included Neptune Marine Services in Australia, PetroVietnam (PVD Training), IBC Asia in Singapore and Bureau Veritas in Aberdeen.

With SK Eng., we developed Spectrum Pipelines, a suite of pipeline design and integrity software built by pipeline engineers for pipeline engineers.

Quality and memberships

Z-Subsea Energies has been assessed and approved by QMS International to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. We are FPAL registered and members of Subsea UK and Oil & Gas UK.
