Pipeline Buckling Analysis
Lateral and upheaval buckling assessment and controlled-buckle design for HPHT pipelines, and assessment of buckled or damaged lines.
For HPHT systems in deep water, lateral buckling is a major design concern. Traditional approaches such as trenching and backfilling cannot prevent a global buckle, so controlled lateral buckles are needed to release axial force while preventing excessive bending.
We take assessments from calculation sheets through to nonlinear finite element models with cyclic pipe-soil behaviour and transients, with structural reliability analysis where needed. Our expertise also covers pipelines buckled during installation or damaged by third-party objects such as anchors.
