Training course

Subsea Xmas Trees

Subsea trees from drilling and wellheads to tree types, interfaces, installation tooling, completions and intervention, and the commercial and technical factors that drive tree selection.

Duration
3 days
Outline
13 modules
On completion
Certificate from Z-Subsea Energies / Valve Institute

About the course

This comprehensive course gives an overview of subsea Xmas trees through lectures, photo and video presentations, case studies and workshops. It explains the fundamental issues behind the robust, safe and economical selection of subsea trees and their valve and actuator systems, from concept to detailed design.

The principal codes include ASME VIII Divisions 1 and 2, ISO 10423 (API 6A) for wellheads and Xmas trees, ISO 13628-4 (API 17D) for subsea wellheads and ISO 15156 (NACE MR0175), together with the recommended practices DNV-RP-F112, on duplex stainless steel under cathodic protection, and DNV-RP-B401, on cathodic protection design.

What you will learn

The steps in engineering and designing subsea Xmas trees, from initial selection to pre-commissioning

The key topics in engineering subsea Xmas trees

The physical concepts behind Xmas tree design philosophy

The criteria for robust and safe design of Xmas trees
