We designed tee and wye pieces to ASME VIII Division 2 for an ultra-deep-water development offshore Brazil, at 2,300 m water depth.
At that depth, high external pressure and installation loads combine with the internal design pressure. We used elastic-plastic finite element analysis and the load and resistance factor approach of the code. This made sure each component could resist collapse, local failure and cyclic loading without being over-designed.
